Welcome to my page!!
My name is Rehaan Aadhie Hassan, and I am a senior at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego, California. I started Global Innovatorz in 2023 to make a difference in the lives of babies born prematurely around the world.
This is a very personal cause for me. I was born a micro-preemie at 27 weeks, weighing just 1.5 pounds. My parents recall the harrowing five months I spent in the NICU at Lurie Childrenβs Hospital in Chicago. Without the dedication and expertise of the doctors, nurses, and staff members, my journey would not have been possible.
In the summer after my freshman year, I interned at the Outreach Program for Advancing Learning in STEM (OPALS) at the Institute of Engineering in Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. This experience opened a portal that helped me connect biomedical research to its real-world impact on people like me. Since then, I have resolved to make it my lifeβs mission to work toward preventing prematurity through research, advocacy, and fundraising.
My long-term partnership with Green Dreams Women, a nonprofit supporting war-affected women in Northern Sri Lanka, connected me with the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, where my mother was born. With Green Dreams Women as our fiscal sponsor, we are fundraising to support the NICU in Jaffna as it faces critical budget shortfalls.
Our pledge is to fund the salaries of five NICU assistants for the next two years at $500 per month. In addition, our campaign will support the procurement of life-saving medicines and essential instruments urgently needed in the NICU. These efforts directly impact the survival and recovery of fragile newborns fighting for their lives.
Thank you for visiting and supporting our mission. Every donationβbig or smallβhelps give premature babies a fighting chance at life.
πΈ This is me in the NICU after four months of care and love.
Why Sri Lanka?
Sri Lankaβs economic crisis has pushed government hospitals to the edge β and newborns are among the most vulnerable.
Premature births are rising β many babies need intensive NICU care.
NICUs are overcrowded β incubators and beds must be shared between too many infants.
Essential equipment is scarce β laryngoscopes, incubators, and monitors are in short supply.
Medicines and formula run out quickly β leaving fragile babies without the support they need.
Hospitals like Jaffna Teaching Hospital work tirelessly, but resources fall far short of demand.
Your support gives these newborns a fighting chance β transforming fear into survival, and survival into hope.
Our Mission
At GlobalInnovatorz, our mission is deeply personal and urgently needed: to give every newborn in Sri Lanka the chance to survive, grow, and thrive. Too many babies are born into hospitals without the equipment or supplies to save them. We are here to change that β one incubator, one medicine, one life at a time.β
We work in partnership with Green Dreams Women (GDW) and hospitals like the Teaching Hospital in Jaffna to bridge the critical gaps in neonatal care. Together, we focus on the most vulnerable β premature and critically ill babies β providing the tools and care they need to take their very first steps toward a healthy life.
Every incubator is warmth, safety, and a lifeline for a premature baby.
Born too soon, but with care and love, every breath becomes a victory.
Love is medicine too: skin-to-skin care helps fragile babies grow stronger.
Essential tools like laryngoscopes and incubators turn fear into hope.
Our mission is simple: no baby should lose their first fight because a hospital lacked the tools to help them survive.
