Welcome to my page!!
My name is Rehaan Aadhie Hassan, and I am a senior at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego, California. I started Global Innovatorz in 2023 to make a difference in the lives of babies born prematurely around the world.
This is a very personal cause for me. I was born a micro-preemie at 27 weeks, weighing just 1.5 pounds. My parents recall the harrowing five months I spent in the NICU at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Without the dedication and expertise of the doctors, nurses, and staff members, my journey would not have been possible.
In the summer after my freshman year, I interned at the Outreach Program for Advancing Learning in STEM (OPALS) at the Institute of Engineering in Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. This experience opened a portal that helped me connect biomedical research to its real-world impact on people like me. Since then, I have resolved to make it my life’s mission to work toward preventing prematurity through research, advocacy, and fundraising.
My long-term partnership with Green Dreams Women, a nonprofit supporting war-affected women in Northern Sri Lanka, connected me with the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, where my mother was born. With Green Dreams Women as our fiscal sponsor, we are fundraising to support the NICU in Jaffna as it faces critical budget shortfalls.
Our pledge is to fund the salaries of five NICU assistants for the next two years at $500 per month. In addition, our campaign will support the procurement of life-saving medicines and essential instruments urgently needed in the NICU. These efforts directly impact the survival and recovery of fragile newborns fighting for their lives.
Thank you for visiting and supporting our mission. Every donation—big or small—helps give premature babies a fighting chance at life.
